February Meeting - ActionLinq
Nick Kwiatkowski
During our February 10th meeting, we will be discussing ActionLinq, a new Action Script library that has been recently released by Brian Genisio, which is a full implementation of Linq-to-Objects for Actionscript. This library makes it very easy to process data on the client. The data can come from remote service calls, http request etc. The ActionLinq library allows you to easily convert the data to different formats, sort it, transform it, apply filters to it etc.
Usage of the library will be covered in the context of several real world applications that are being developed around the MSU Physical Plant’s GIS system. These applications are based on the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex prototype application and have been heavily customized to incorporate the recently released MSU brand standards. Several custom ‘widgets’ have been developed which implement specific functionality for each application.
Attendees should come away with an overview of building customized applications using the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex and using the ActionLinq api.
We will be meeting in room 155 Communicaion Arts and Sciences, on the campus of Michigan State University. The meeting will start at 7pm.
